Artist Of The Week: Palmdale

It’s always nice to find upbeat, cheery songs to lift my mood and Palmdale have definitely done the job in being able to lift my mood, and for that reason I’m making them this week’s Artist Of The Week. That and the fact that they are awesome!

Palmdale is an alternate pop-rock act made up of former Letters To Cleo front woman Kay Hanley and all round musical master Linus Of Hollywood (former frontman of Size 14 and co-owner of Crappy Records). Having been fans of each others work for sometime they decided to come together and produce pop songs for other artists to use. However, this idea was quickly scrapped and the pair kept the songs themselves and recorded them together, thus creating Palmdale.

They recently released their debut EP “Get Wasted” which contains 5 tracks and was solely released digitally. Kay Hanley provided vocals whilst Linus provided all the instruments (except for drums). The feedback for the EP has been extremely positive and those who have bought it or heard it have taken an immense liking to it. People have been questioning Linus on his Formspring page on when or if Palmdale will play their city or even their country, or possibly even supporting Bowling For Soup sometime. While nothing has been confirmed yet, we can only hope to hear more in the future from Palmdale.

With the EP on iTunes for £2.49, it won’t burn a whole in your pocket and for 5 fantastic songs, it’s great value for money!

The first song taken from the EP is the upbeat, catchy, “Here Comes The Summer” and the video can be found below.
